Privacy Policy — CodeBlanks

CodeBlanks (“the app”) helps you practice coding problems with fill-in-the-blank exercises and an AI tutor. This policy explains what the app collects and where it goes.

What the app sends to our backend

To provide hints, chat answers, and to check your fill-in-the-blank answers, the app sends the following to our backend server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection:

• The problem you’re working on and the code or blanks you enter.
• Your chat messages to the AI tutor.
• A random per-install identifier generated on your device, used only to keep your hint/chat history separate during a session. It is not linked to your name, email, account, or device identifiers.

We do not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, or any advertising identifiers. The app has no user accounts.

Third parties

• AI provider: your code/blanks and chat messages are sent to an AI API (Anthropic Claude or Google Gemini, depending on backend configuration) to generate hints and answers, governed by those providers’ privacy terms.
• Advertising (Google AdMob): the app shows ads served by Google AdMob, which may use advertising identifiers (Android Advertising ID) to serve relevant ads. You can opt out in your device’s Google settings under "Ads". See Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
• Hosting (Railway): our backend runs on Railway, which processes requests on our behalf.

We do not sell your data.

Data retention

Hint and chat history is kept only in memory on the backend and is discarded when the server restarts. We do not maintain a long-term database of your submissions.

Children

The app is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date will change accordingly.
